We had a fab time at the weekend with over 60 people coming through the door at MySensability in Bury for their huge ‘light night’. We decided to create temporary live interactive visuals using iPhones and iPod Touches as remote camera/body triggers using open source software and a little specialist VJ’ing software. We also had enough good old fashioned bluetooth speaker technology to open our own Maplins! Hacking the audience

For a number of years we have been experimenting with technology in the hope to blur the lines between audience and performer at the regular bITjAM sonic events. These events have drawn digital artists and new audiences from around Europe for over 5 years now and brought them together during the events. From each of these events we have used various methods and interfaces with the intention of allowing the audience to be part of the installation. We are privileged to announce 3 guest performers for the 4th Anniversary of bITjAM 4/11/10 at The Rigger Marsh parade NUL, free entry, cake and chaos. The guests are: ROBERT RATCLIFFE Composer and pianist, graduated from Keele University with a first class honours degree in Music and Music Technology, specializing in composition and performance. Subsequently, he was the recipient of an AHRC award to undertake a Master of Research degree in composition, which he passed with distinction. Early preparation for DATfest

After a fab public meeting for the first digital media festival in Stoke-on-Trent we’ve got our offer ready for the bITjAM part of the programme. We are going to ‘recycle’ unwanted audio and video clips submitted by the public. This recycling will include collecting the clips and mashing them in a live performance. The idea came from our mashups through the residency at Shop-Stoke. These AV clips will be the type of clips where the video is out of focus, suffering the effects of ‘shakey-cam’, or audio is damaged in some way. These are the clips you would normally delete,
